Let me start off with my observation of the Lodges in the Caribbean area. The collaboration existing between the various District Grand Lodges in the region makes me feel that it is not unlikely that this may lead to the formation of the District Grand Lodge of the Caribbean or the West Indies.

My delegation and I were amazed on Thursday night 20th of January, when Moore Keys Lodge No. 2519 EC had more than 150 brethren for a 3rd Degree working. Even more amazing was the incoming of members of a sister Lodge of over 20 members in unison on a visit. Your brotherliness and amity with yourselves is highly commendable and worthy of emulation by us. For example, the District Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Walter Horatio Scott assisted by Bro. Gordon “GB” Brown, waited patiently for us at the airport as we arrived with different planes at different times in Montego Bay.

In Ocho Rios Bro. W. Manly Bowen, PDDistGM, waited for us with a brother from 11am until we arrived at pm. They were all smiles and wonderful fellowship until 10pm with a great dinner and music in-between.

We then came here to Kingston, the state capital, and there again waiting for us were R.W. Bro Maj. Gen. Green OSM and Bro. Billion Young Chin and subsequently at dinner we shared companionship with your indefatigable Director of Ceremonies Bro. Linton Walters and his lovely wife. The following day the Rt. Worshipful Major General took us on a fantastic tour of Kingston. Brethren, this brother I believe should have been a tour guide; not to mention his flawless delivery of the Traditional History. For an 83 or sorry, a 38 year old young man yah man – it was a master stroke!

We have a lot to learn from your District and we have made copious notes, which we will take back for the enrichment of our District. It is significant to note that the history of Masonry in Jamaica dates back to centuries ago, comparable to Masonry in England. I believe the Royal Lodge No. 207 was formed at about 1789. For Masonry to have flourished since then and continues to grow is unimaginable, wonderful, credulous and worthy of emulation.

I cannot end these my comments without reference to the amiable wife of our District Grand Master Kishan Scott, our lady District Grand Master. She took the trouble to come to us and welcome us in Montego Bay and was with us and the brethren in the Montego Bay area in our cocktails over there and again in the Kingston area. The Ladies in my delegation and the entire members in the team are very grateful to you.

And finally my brethren, may brotherly love continue; if and when and I’m sure you will, come to Nigeria – in the words of Idi Amin, we will retaliate.

Freemasonry: a peculiar system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols.
